Paintball Silencers

Paintball silencers are meant to muffle or silence the intensity of sound that is released from the barrel of the paintball gun. Paintball silencers act much like real guns where in the sound waves are suppressed by sound proofing materials used in the silencers and hence reduce the sound heard substantially.

Paintball silencers can be attached to all kinds of guns, from pistols to sniper rifles. However Paintball silencers are most effective when attached with sniper rifles primarily from the strategic point of view and also because it is ridiculous to have a Paintball silencers to a pistol because it is in the line of sight of the opposition. Paintball silencers can be rolled over the gun barrel or over perforations to absorb the sound emitted and diminishes it.

The paintball guns emit the sound on emission of the paintball pellets and the propulsion and emission is provided by the gases that burst out sending the paintballs shooting through the barrel. The exhaust of these gases result in an audible “POP” and this can be amplified depending on the type of barrel, the pellets used, the gas exhaust and other contraptions that are used for releasing the paintball pellets. Paintball silencers have always been an effective weapon if you want to catch the opposition unawares; it also lends a sinister professional appearance to the paintball gun.

There are many sites that sell these Paintball silencers for a variety of paintball guns. Some of these Paintball silencers come directly from the manufacturer of these paintball guns and groove in easily and have tremendous effect. If you have the patience, there are also sites that give you instructions on how to actually make your own Paintball silencers.

All you need is a PVC reinforced tube or a light metal tube, stuff it with sound proofing materials like foam or asbestos.  You must also provide barrel tightening mechanisms so that the Paintball silencers don't slip off or slides off the barrel and so that they don't wobble. Wobbling can reduce the effectiveness of the Paintball silencers hence proper mechanism for tightening the hold on barrel is necessary.
Paintball silencers may not be allowed or it may not be legal in certain events because they give undue advantage to the shooters and can tilt the favor entirely on side of the combat. However, in spite of regulations it is still popular amongst users of paintball guns.
